Time to finish the bottom of the strakes before turning the plane back over. The gear doors fit, but I add a fillet and one bid from the back of the spar to the strake skins. Next, some filler on the leading edge and fuselage junction then give it an initial sanding to see how much work I have to do. This is MUCH easier than doing this with the plane right side up . I did it that way on the first Velocity and can still taste the micro.
I knew it couldn't be that simple. My old friend , the four foot sanding block from the hobby store reveals high spots over each fuel baffle. This is remedied with the same process used for uneven spots in the wings. Spray it with black guide coat, sand to find the low spots, fill low spots, repeat. Always fun wearing a respirator on a hot summer day.
Just about there. You can see the black guide coat just about all came off this time.
At last, the strake is filled , sanded and perfect. (I think) Next week I've recruited 10 guys to help flip the plane back over. Seven was a little too exciting. For now I'm a happy camper. Not so much the wife, whose car is still marred by the week long dust storm from my finishing efforts.
