Countdown to Airventure 2015!

Oshkosh / Airventure 2015 is almost here! Two weeks from today, we should be parked on the field at Oshkosh. Once again, the plan is to fly in to see Andy and Theresa Millin at their home near Kalamazoo, Michigan. I will be going with my wife Nancy, son Sean and good friend Garrett. He is a fellow pilot who will be making his first pilgrimage to OSH with us.

We will be joined at Andy's by Brett and Elizabeth Ferrell, who flew around the lake and into the show with us for their first flight in last year. Kurt and Misty Winker just flew off the last of the hours on their restricted period and will be flying their new Velocity in as well.

We are staying in the dorms and will be there through Thursday morning. We will be stopping by the plane each morning, late afternoon and throughout the day. We look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting other builders and prospective builders. Stop by to say hello!

I am already mostly packed. I did paperwork today, including my taxi signs, rental car reservation, dorm reservation and studying the NOTAM.

Tomorrow, I'm heading out to the airport to wash the plane, organize the tie downs, life preservers, cleaning kits, etc.  I also need to fix a gouge in the prop from a seashell we picked up on the ramp in Ocean City. That's the nice thing about a composite prop - you can fix almost any damage.

Here is the EAA's latest parking plan. Velocities will be parked together at the same location as last year. It is at the North end almost to the warbird area. It is pictured at the top right of the diagram.

We should have quite a few of us together this year. In addition to ours, there will at least be Millins, Ferrells, Winkers, Epsteins, Dent's plane and more.

Please stop by if you are at the show. Otherwise, we look forward to seeing everyone at the Velocity Cookout on Wednesday night at 10th and Elm in Camp Scholler.

See you soon. Next post after the show!
