Chester County Fall Flying Festival 2014

We had our annual fly in at my home airport, KMQS, on Saturday. After a lot of work by those putting it on, the weather forecast looked grim mid-week with 100% chance of rain and a big cold front blowing through on Friday night.

I had promised to set up, so I left at dawn and drove over to the airport at 7:00 on Saturday. As forecast, the weather was not great.

I wiped the plane down in the hangar, then walked out to help for a while. By 8:30 or so, things got a little better, so I pulled the plane out.

The rain stopped and they started pulling jets, warbirds, homebuilts and more out of hangars around the airport to put on display.

At 10:00 the show opened and people started coming in the gate. N929X was in a prime spot this year as I was scheduled to do several fly by's.

There was a car show as well with a good turn out.

This started out as a Saturn Sky

The show started with a low, fast pass by a Lear 36. Very impressive.

We pulled the plane up to the ramp for our fly by's. There was a Mustang and Spitfire up there as well.

Time for the show. My friend Garrett came along as co-pilot/videographer.

Here is a GoPro video of several passes, a landing and a 360 for the crowd line.

We pulled the plane back down to the display area and opened it up. We got a lot of attention and interest. I honestly think 100 kids sat in the plane.

It's always fun to watch the warbirds do low passes.

It was a good show and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.

At 4:00 we pulled the plane back to the hangar and tucked her in. It was a great day. I'm looking forward to next year.
